（85）山区的伤病员治疗得差不多了，白求恩主动要求参加“东征医疗队”，去开辟冀中平原游击根据地的医疗工作。一九三九年二月，白求恩和医疗队的同志，迎着刺骨寒风，来到平汉铁路日寇封锁线。

(85) Having treated most of the sick and wounded in the mountain area, Bethune volunteered to join the “Eastern Expedition Medical Unit,” bringing healthcare to the guerrilla bases across the plains of the central Hebei. In February 1939, through biting winter winds, he and his medical team penetrated Japanese-occupied territory near the Pinghan Railway blockade line.
