ChinaComx PI and Postdoc, Lena Henningsen and Damian Mandzunowski, will present an advanced version of their paper on high socialist lianhuanhua at the 21st annual conference of the “Gesellschaft für Comicforschung” (Society for Comics Studies) running under the theme “Figures and Figurations of the Heroic in Comics“ on 30 Sept-1 Oct 2026 in Giessen.
Lena and Damian, in their talk titled “Into the Maoverse: Reconfigurations of the Heroic in Chinese Socialist Comics”, showcase an new version of their shared paper informed by the work done at ChinaComx in the past year.
